Premier David Eby has declared Friday, May 2, 2025, as a provincial day of remembrance and mourning to honour the victims of the Lapu Lapu tragedy. This day offers an opportunity for British Columbians to grieve together and recognize the victims’ contributions to their communities.

An online book of condolences is available for signing until Monday, May 5.

Flags across the province, including in our district, will remain at half-mast until sunset on Sunday, May 4. They will return to full mast on Monday morning, May 5, when school resumes. Our school community joins others across the province in mourning the tragic events that took place during the Lapu Lapu Block Party in Vancouver on April 26. We send our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and everyone affected. As a mark of respect, flags at all Sea to Sky School District sites will be lowered to half-mast until further notice, as outlined in the provincial policy.
